I hate to open this post with, ‘I can’t believe it’s already Thanksgiving’, but for real… I cant! 2014 has hands-down been the fastest year of my life.  Full of big changes, exciting adventures and sometimes scary leaps of faith; this year has, in many ways, also been my most challenging to date.  It’s so easy to fall into a rut when times are trying and to start thinking, ‘whoa is me’, but Thanksgiving gives us the perfect opportunity to wipe away our whining and focus on all we have to be grateful for.  *{We’ll get to the fashion aspect of this post in a minute btw}*

My Priest once said that we are always asking God for things but if they come to fruition we forget to turn around and thank Him for them.  I think we’re all guilty of this, but since hearing him articulate it I’ve tried my hardest to do it less and less.  And now I’ll let you in on a little secret  that I’ve found: if you give thanks every day of your life, you’re actually allowing yourself to remember, on a daily basis, all of the blessings that you have, and that in and of itself will bring you happiness.  So this Thanksgiving, my list of things to be thankful for is a little too long to share in full, but it starts with The Major who makes me feel whole and has shown me the true meaning of unconditional love, continues with my family {new and old} who are the most amazing {and fun} support system I could ever ask for, and ends with my friends who, though not as plentiful as they were when I was younger, are each worth their weight in gold times a million to me.

Now for the outfit!  This is my perfect Thanksgiving day look…  I thought this skirt was a fun way to incorporate autumnal colors into a holiday outfit.  I paired it back to these leopard booties for a pop of fun and also for a touch of comfort. If you’re doing the cooking, or if you’re a kitchen helper, then comfy shoes are a must and these wedges are like walking on air.  Topped off with a fitted sweater and a chunky necklace to up the mod feel, it’s like a little 60’s housewife does Thanksgiving!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone!
