Happy Tuesday lovers; I hope you’re all having the best one yet!  What is it about the weekends that make you want to stay in your sweats all day and lounge?  I am obsessed with being comfy and cozy but I never actually wore sweats until about a year ago.  Here’s the thing…in high school I did the juicy velour suits and in college the over-sized SU sweatpants in size L with Uggs and it was cute…in a way {it’s actually so un-cute looking back that it’s embarrassing} but you know, these things had their moment in time for me.

When I moved to NYC I felt like an adult and part of that for me, was parting with my beloved, over-sized pants.  It just felt so un-chic! I also once had a women in the fashion industry tell me that her marriage had fallen apart because she started wearing sweatpants around the house…eeek.  That kind of woke me right up to the horror that came with these comfy bottoms.  So I let them go and swore to myself that the comfiest pants that were allowed in my house would be jeans and the occasional yoga pant.

But then something happened.  The fashion heavens opened up and dropped a little piece of love into our laps; the luxe sweatpant.  Everyone from Wang to Jacobs started showing these soft bottoms on the run-way and all of a sudden the world felt a little bit better.  My key to wearing them outside of my house is pairing them back with more refined pieces such as this button front flannel. Sure, it’s still totally cozy and casual but it’s not a sweatshirt or an over-sized T, right?  That makes all the difference.  Take the seperates that you would wear back to jeans and try substituting a pair of well fitting sweatpants with clean lines that are neither tight nor baggy.  The result is ridiculously comfortable weekend wear that is completely acceptable to rock out in public.
