The Major, Sunshine, Bruiser and I are {almost} officially back home.  Admittedly and surprisingly,  I was a bit nervous to return to my decade long stomping ground…Here’s the thing; I had anticipated feeling totally lost during my time down south and thought that after a couple months I’d be ripping my hair out, dying to return, but somehow this just wasn’t the case.  I actually loved our months spent away and relished in a quieter and simpler life.  I traded a fast paced {frantic} schedule and a high power job in the fashion industry for Pilates classes and suburban grocery stores and it turned out to be just what I needed.  But still, it was time.  New York {well now Jersey City} is our home and we had to go back to where we belonged. SIGH.

The best part of being back has been seeing my family and friends after being away for too long.  The worst part has been the weather.  There is nothing quite like leaving a place where 60 degrees is considered freezing cold and then jumping right into a New York winter.  My ears hurt. My face hurts.  OW.

In super cold weather I love to bundle up in luxe, preferably over-sized pieces to stay warm.  I borrowed this gorgeous fisherman-esque sweater from my boy-bestie, Matt.  I love love love throwing on men’s sweaters in the winter; somehow they just feel warmer to me.  You can also layer under them rather than throwing a bulky coat on top which can sometimes feel too cumbersome for a day out and about.  I paired the sweater over these ‘sweatpant’ jeans which are quite possibly the most ingenious and cozy thing ever.  They are literally screen printed french terry so they offer more insulation and softness than your everyday denim.  I finished the look off with some amazing cold weather accessories; this infinity scarf and fur hat.  Spotlight on the scarf for a minute: it is the dreamiest, yummiest cashmere imaginable, it comes in an array of gorgeous colors, and it is priced ridiculously well for such a luxe staple.  The best part of it is that Cashmere Treats is designed and manufactured out of California so by purchasing their products you are supporting small business AND domestic production.  I am collaborating with them on a  couple of posts this week and next so look out for more of their amazing products.  And for the hat…if you follow me on Instagram then you know this hat is a vintage piece that belonged to my Grandmother.  I love when fashion and sentimentality meet and this piece is especially sweet to me for many reasons.  Plus it’s the warmest thing you can ever imagine putting on your body.

That’s it for now.  Happy Hump-day lovers!
